New opportunities for inclusive growth

Discover how the Franschhoek Cableway project is set to transform our beloved valley. This significant investment promises a powerful boost to our local economy, creating jobs for our community, empowering local artisans, and fostering sustainable tourism that benefits everyone.

Investment into Franschhoek

The Franschhoek Cableway project has the potential to bring enormous socio-economic value to the Franschhoek community. It is envisioned to be a R400 million investment into the community and infrastructure of the town.

The project will create direct and indirect jobs for the local community during and after construction. It is projected that once completed, the Franschhoek Cableway project will inject an estimated R100 million into the Franschhoek economy every year.

Employment

The Franschhoek valley is facing rising unemployment, and we believe that sensitive economic development is essential to help address this issue.

Franschhoek as a community has to invest in new services and infrastructure to stay relevant to the tourist market and offer more local community members the opportunity to benefit from these developments. The Franschhoek Cableway project aims to create local job opportunities, both during its construction and throughout its ongoing operations.

For every 100 international visitors to the Western Cape, two jobs are created. It is important that Franschhoek’s communities benefit from this job creation.

This project will also open doors for local artisans and community members’ existing and new entrepreneurial ventures. By involving the community in this initiative from an early stage, we hope to foster a sense of ownership and pride in the project.

Tourism

We are actively advocating for responsible and sustainable tourism practices to combat the unemployment issues facing our community.

Developing sustainable tourism can truly be a win-win situation for the Franschhoek valley. It can bring in visitors who appreciate our unique offerings while ensuring that the benefits of tourism are felt by the local community. The Franschhoek Cableway aims to slow down the pace of tourism in Franschhoek, giving visitors more time and opportunity to engage with and support local artisans, restaurants, delis, shops and wine farms.

Through this approach, we aim to create a thriving economy that supports everyone in Franschhoek, making it a place where both residents and visitors can flourish.

Employment & Community Upliftment

Franschhoek needs economic development to increase employment and reduce poverty in the valley which will help secure a better future for all residents.

The Franschhoek Cableway project will generate local employment opportunities during construction and during operation, all the while offering local artisans and communities the opportunity to support the project. Developing sustainable tourism is a win-win for the Franschhoek valley.

A Boost for the Local Artisans

The cableway project is expected to inspire local artisans, boost sustainable tourism, and generate employment opportunities, contributing to the economic upliftment of the Franschhoek area.
